Job Description

As part of a highly talented, dynamic, innovative, multi-discipline team a successful candidate will provide concepts, design review input and solutions to project requirements and customer needs. Duties will include:

  • Work closely with the project team in all phases of a project from concept/quoting, design, build, integration, customer acceptance and support.
  • Review drawings of customer electrical infrastructure to ensure project needs.
  • Wire, label and troubleshoot electrical field components including motors, generators, safety devices, sensors, instrumentation, PLCs, HMIs, robots, PCs and lighting, etc.
  • Terminate and troubleshoot electrical panel components.
  • Troubleshoot I/O and safety checks, fieldbus communications and download software to controllers as needed to facilitate the initial setup.
  • Follow government and public health laws, guidelines and advisories as required.
  • Receive purchased components and install as needed.
  • Prepare accepted systems for shipping and ensure equipment is secured for transportation.
  • Reinstall equipment once on customer site and get to an operational state quickly and effectively.
  • Troubleshoot process issues/challenges and provide feedback with the project team to find solutions.
  • Source materials from suppliers to meet project and shop needs.
  • Lead and mentor junior members of the project team on the floor and assist the electrical engineering team.
  • Communicate project status and issues to keep projects on budget and schedule while meeting project requirements.
  • Travel to customer sites, local and abroad, to install equipment, provide customer training and/or support ongoing production.

Requirements

A successful candidate will possess the following assets and skills:

  • Certificate of Qualification and 3 years experience in an industrial or industrial OEM environment as an Industrial Electrician (442A).
  • A valid driver’s license with access to your own vehicle as travel to local customer sites is required.
  • A valid passport with the ability to travel internationally up to an average of 20% per year.
  • Have basic experience with machine shop practices including milling, turning, grinding and CNCs.
  • Have extensive experience with assembling, wiring and setting up industrial electrical components including motors, generators, safety devices, sensors, instrumentation, PLCs, HMIs, robots, PCs and lighting, etc.
  • Be competent with Microsoft Office suite products including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or EPlan.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams products, and any other suitable technology.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and process engineering, and how those systems need to interact to provide a complete solution to customers.

A successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing innovative hardware solutions to process concepts and issues.
  • Assisting in creating project budgets and schedules.
  • Maintaining project budgets and schedules and communicating project status with team members at regular intervals.
  • Develop process solutions, including the development of internal design standards, tools, guides and checklists.
  • Support multi-discipline design reviews both internally and externally.
  • Coordinate 3rd party vendor quotes and support.
  • Support customer production onsite or remotely.
  • Support team members in their own support of customers or projects.
  • Provide accurate documentation of current projects, including but not limited to, setup and troubleshooting guides, user’s manuals, device certification documents, record model/serial numbers of actual devices used, etc.
